Erwin van der Werve was born in 1974 in Papendrecht. After studying Management of Change at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam and Spanish Literature and Culture he did an exchange with the
art Academy in Reykjavik, Iceland. Which was to have a major influence on his work. After graduating at the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam he lived in Iceland, The Netherlands and Norway
and made installations for a number of exhibitions around Europe and in China (Xiamen). Besides that he managed to create a body of work consisting of over 600 drawings and paintings.

In January 2014 he moved with his family to Akureyri, Iceland, where he lives in a homebuild Ger and works in his studio at Grasrot.
